Black Penguins- Young Threes
Pink Flamingos - Threes
Silver Foxes - Older Threes
By age 3, children are ready and eager to tell us what they know and show us what they can do. Students in our Pink Flamingos and Silver Foxes classrooms enjoy participating in hands-on activities like process art, sensory exploration, and science experiments. They also try more complex manipulatives and use their problem-solving skills to put together puzzles and solve patterns.
Children in our preschool classrooms continue to build upon their knowledge of new shapes, numbers, and letters, as well as expanding that knowledge into an understanding of their relationship to the world around us. Students develop prewriting and reading skills through tracing and name recognition, in addition to both teacher-led read alouds and independent book exploration. Our preschoolers also begin to learn the calendar, left-from-right, and completing multi-step tasks.
Three-year-olds love to show that they can do things all by themselves! Our teachers guide and support student independence through modeled learning activities, encouraging important self-help skills such as cleaning up after themselves, getting ready to go outside, and setting their place at the lunch table. Our teachers are always excited to share successes and celebrate achievements, even the seemingly small ones, in order to build strong social-emotional skills.
